CARE FOR LAWNS AND BEDS
Weeds, hard soil, and overgrown flower beds need different solutions. DeSoto Turf provides weed control and fertilization, core aeration, and flower bed pre-emergent treatments where needed. We assess the problem first, recommend the right service, and explain what to expect after the work is complete.
THREE WAYS WE CAN HELP
DeSoto Turf offers three focused services for established lawns and maintained flower beds.
Weeds compete with grass for room, water, and sunlight. At the same time, turf needs the right nutrients to stay green and keep growing.
Our scheduled program combines weed treatments with fertilization based on the lawn’s needs at different points in the year. We adjust treatments as weed activity and growing conditions change.
This service is suited for lawns with:
Some weeds respond quickly, while others take longer or require follow-up treatment. Fertilizer results also depend on active grass growth, watering, weather, and the lawn’s current condition.
Regular foot traffic, equipment, and everyday lawn use can press soil particles together. Once the ground compacts, water can run off the surface instead of reaching the roots.
Core aeration removes small plugs of soil throughout the lawn. The openings give air, water, and nutrients a clearer path into the root zone.
Aeration is worth considering when:
Leave the plugs on the lawn to break down naturally. Aeration does not create an instant color change, but it improves soil conditions that support continued growth.
Pre-emergent helps stop certain annual weeds while they are germinating. Apply it to eligible, maintained flower beds around established shrubs, flowers, and ornamental plants.
The service is preventive. It does not kill weeds that are already growing, and it will not eliminate every perennial weed or spreading grass.
Our flower bed program includes four scheduled applications and can help:
Existing weeds should be removed separately. Disturb the treated soil as little as possible after application.
A SIMPLE SERVICE PROCESS
We keep the process focused on your property’s condition and the service you’re considering.
Tell us which area needs attention and what has changed. Recurring weeds, hard soil, runoff, thin grass, and frequent flower bed growth each provide a useful starting point.
We review the turf, visible weeds, soil surface, moisture, and condition of the beds. We also look for factors such as shade, drainage, and poor water coverage that can affect results.
We explain which service fits the concern and why. When two services are needed, we plan the order of the treatments so that they work to address the issue.
Treatments and aeration are completed according to the service plan, product directions, and conditions on the day of the visit.
We provide practical instructions for watering, mowing, planting, soil disturbance, and access to treated areas.
LESS GUESSING, BETTER CARE
Lawn care works better when the service matches the problem. Applying fertilizer to compacted ground or pre-emergent over existing weeds will not provide the intended result.
A planned approach can provide:
This does not mean adding every available service. It means choosing the work that has a clear purpose.
SUPPORT THE TREATMENT
A few routine steps can help protect the work already completed:
Follow any instructions provided after the visit. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency also provides guidance on pesticide labels, safe use, and re-entry after treatment.
RESULTS TAKE DIFFERENT PATHS
Each service works differently.
Treated weeds may begin changing within several days, although some take longer or need another application. Fertilizer supports the lawn as the grass grows.
Aeration leaves small soil plugs across the lawn. They break apart naturally with rain, watering, mowing, and regular lawn activity.
Flower bed pre-emergent works before susceptible weeds become visible. It will not remove growth that was already established at the time of application.
Results are also affected by watering, weather, mowing, shade, soil conditions, grass type, and the condition of the lawn before service begins.
